a weekend away

Cooking your dinner with some hot coals and hard work.
Throwing the football around until your arm is sore.
Setting out in a canoe to battle the waves and bigger boats in the water.
Watching the sun slowly disappear, taking the last bit of warmth with it.
Squishing as close to the fire as possible without getting singed.
Staying up late talking and laughing and dreaming and remembering.
Trying to roast the perfect s'more without getting covered in stickiness.
Whispered conversations after crawling into a tent made for two.
Listening to the wind howling and the trees rustling over head.
Drifting off to sleep under a mountain of blankets.
Waking up at the crack of dawn, ready to start a new day.

All of these things....perfection.

  2. Great post. Some of my favorite posts on the internet are when people have been spending time away from the internet and just enjoying life! Probably because I am always inspired to do the same after I read them. So glad you had a great time away!

  6. Hi Julia, I've just discovered your lovely blog through Annapolis & Co's link up. Your photography is beautiful! It looks like you had a fantastic weekend full of memory making moments : )
I haven't been camping for years (I live in England and it rains a lot - one year I went camping 7 times and it rained every single time!) and this post reminded me of all the fun there is to be had when you pitch up tents with friends and family!

    1. Oh! Thank you!! You're too kind. :) It really was a wonderful weekend. Hard to have a bad one when you're out in the wilderness and surrounded by family.

Haha! That sounds like quite the adventure! Camping in the rain is definitely an experience I want to have sometime, but maybe not every single time. ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I'll definitely check out yours! :)
