christmas traditions and giant pom poms.

sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll have friends who will knit you really cool hats for christmas.
and sometimes those really cool hats will have a gaint pom pom.
and sometimes you'll wear said hat every day even though it's 60+ degrees,
because you just can't help it.

moving on....

the past couple years of marriage have brought crazy commotion around the holidays.
(as any married couple can tell you, i'm sure!)
it's usually spent hopping from my family to kyle's family.
i love it. it's busy and crazy and fun.
the only problem is that OUR (mine and kyle's) christmas usually ends up a rather rushed affair.
we usually quickly open gifts and then it's out the door to join the family festivities.

this year, we've determined to really take the time to have a special just-the-two-of-us christmas celebration.
to take the time to start some traditions of our own.
we're gonna spend the night before christmas eve baking christmas goodies together and watching a christmas movie. then we're gonna get up early and have yummy quiche and take turns opening gifts and we're gonna sip some egg nog.
maybe we'll have a christmas record playing in the background.

then we will then head off to my parents where we'll spend the day and night (all my siblings and their spouses stay the night there as well). we'll get up waaaay too early like we're still five years old to open presents and eat breakfast together.

then it's off to kyle's family to have brunch and play games and open more presents.

it's a pretty great time, i'm not gonna lie.

what christmas traditions do you have?

  3. You are so cute!! And I definitely wear winter clothes even though it's hot here haha. JUST GET COLD, DECEMBER. Our Christmases have always been crazy because both sets of grandparents live in San Diego so we always had to see everyone on the 25th. It'll definitely be nice for you guys to take it easy and indulge in some awesome traditions :] My favorite of our traditions is watching Elf and eating my mom's homemade pizza on Christmas Eve hehe.

  5. It's definitely hard to figure out new traditions with your significant other while trying to maintain your old ones. My boyfriend still has really young siblings, so we spend a ton of time hopping from place to place on Christmas. I hope that within the next couple years we'll be able to start a few of our own traditions! Oh the joys of figuring it all out!

You guys have a great time, though! Sounds like a really wonderful couple days! Merry Christmas!

    1. yes! the only redeemable thing about winter and coldness is the fact that you can get away with wearing beanies every. single. day.
