birthday cake

so, last week was my birthday. i turned twenty-five, and yes i am having a little bit a of a freak out because of it. i feel so old! don't get me wrong, getting older isn't a bad thing. the older i get, the more i learn and grow and am stretched. it's great.

it's just...i'm twenty-five now! it's my last year before i'm almost thirty. i still feel like i'm twenty-one most days (and my family would probably tell you that i act like it still as well).

blarg. has anyone else had a freak out about turning twenty-five? just me? okay...i'll get over it now.

in other news, kyle bought me this for my birthday. (best. husband. ever.)

in other, more important news.

birthday cake.

every year i think about doing something different. something new. and every year i fold. i mean, how can you find a cake better than better than anything cake?? you just can't, people!

i know there are different ways to make this, and each are (i'm sure) quite delicious, but i thought i'd share the way we make it around these parts.

you'll need:

1 box of chocolate cake mix
1 container of sweetened condensed milk
1 jar of chocolate fudge
1 container of cool whip

when making the chocolate cake you want to add one more egg than what the recipe calls for. then bring whatever amount of vegetable oil it says to a cup and subtract it that amount from the water. so if the recipe says 1/4th a cup of veg. oil and 1 cup of water you'll change it to 1 cup of vegetable oil and 1/4th a cup of water. Make sense?

then bake normally. when it's done you're going to take a the handle of a wooden spoon and poke holes in the cake. after that, you'll pour the sweetened condensed milk all over the top and in the little holes (aka pockets of heavenly goodness)...up next is the chocolate fudge. go ahead and pour that all over the top too.

then stick it in your fridge to completely cool and absorb all the milk/fudge deliciousness. once it's cold, you put the cool whip on top.

and voila. the most unhealthy and delicious cake ever.
enjoy.

That cart is fabulous and I'm sure that it will make a beautiful addition to your home- I love the metal and wood combo! Wishing you all the best in your 25th year. Don't think of it as getting older, just wiser :)

  6. Happy (belated) birthday! Yes I remember the freak out of turning 25. I had a good 10 months of panic since most of my peers turned 2-5 before me and were all going through the motions of being now classed as being "mid twenties" all over FB. I guess, depending on where you are in life it can either get worse or better as the years go on. I'm right in the middle of 2-5 and 3-0 and since life hasn't been great of late those few years have been horrible! Hehe! Feeling like a 19 year old on the inside and sometimes even seeing it on the outside too. I think what is important is to just live each day and make them count. Because when you don't it's what you dwell on most.
