!!!

YOU GUYS.
i'm going to europe.
rome ----> london ----> paris to be exact.
in like two months.
aaaaaah!
i'm freakin' out!

my sister got a bunch of miles saved up and she has enough for two free round trip tickets. her husband can't take the time off work (because he's saving up his time for when their little babe comes in february (!!!) ) so she asked if i wanted to go with her. how could i refuse?? :) i am really, reeeeally sad about kyle not coming with. (i almost talked myself out of going, but kyle is the sweetest and told me i should go.)

so, now that the tickets are bought and the hotels are booked there's no going back. an my head is pretty much a nonstop checklist of things we have to get done!

if any of you guys have gone to one of those three cities (or have traveled abroad at all!) and have tips, PLEASE share them. i have no idea about making phone calls internationally and wifi and getting around and speaking the language and currency exchange and apps to have and what to pack.

ah!

  1. ahh how exciting! you will absolutely love it! if you have an iphone you can text anyone else with an iphone for free on wifi, & you can use whatsapp to text internationally too if the other people have it! definitely a life saver. & i recommend exchanging your money either before at a bank if you get a chance or at your hotel, cause they normally will give you a better rate. & just as a warning, taxi's (especially in rome) will charge you a lot more than necessary if you don't speak the language, so try walking as much as you can :)
p.s. i love your map picture!

  6. Ahhh, that is so exciting! I dream of going to paris and london. I have been to Rome and it is absolutely beautiful- you'll love it! One of the things I would suggest, especially in Rome, is to watch out for pickpockets. My friends had a few things stolen from them while they were on the streets. I always tried to keep my money in a pocket in front of me so that I knew it was safe. And just be careful if you use the ATM's there. My card got sucked up while I was over there and it was a nightmare getting that all fixed. But don't worry- it might seem overwhelming but you are going to have the trip of a lifetime and see so many beautiful things!

    1. oh my word! that is terrifying! i would freak out if my card got sucked up! we are planning on having copies made of all our important documents because i've heard that if something does happen it's a lot easier to fix if you have copies!

do you have any recommendations on where to go in rome?? was it easy to find wifi there?

    2. Wifi is pretty easy to find there. Most of the cafes have internet so you shouldn't have too hard of a time. I would definitely say that the Trevi fountain is a must. Other than that I just loved getting lost and exploring for myself. Of course, it's always fun to go to all the touristy places too :) And you must eat as much gelato as possible lol

    1. It was kind a if a whirlwind decision! My sister found out in August that she had enough points to fly for free and they expire in November....so it's been craziness!!

I've been stalking your Paris posts to get ideas. ;)

  9. This is so awesome! I did a 40 day trip around Europe a couple years back and it was one of the best times of my life. I really loved Hungry (Budapest) and Rome. I also see Bosnia and Herzegovina on the map! I loved that bridge and walking under, it was simply gorgeous. I'm not sure if you guys are planning to go but Jungfrau Mountains in Switzerland was one of my all time favorites. Besides being breathtaking, you can do a lot of adventurous things.

Switzerland WAS in the itinerary, but we just don't have time. Definitely going to have to make a return trip with my husband there though!!

      Any tips for Rome??

  11. oh my have funnnnnnn! i spent a week in england last november, and it was the most fun trip. and how much fun that you are going with your sister. what great adventures you will have! we only spent a day in london when we went, but one thing i recommend is going to harrods. HUGE department store with some great restaurants inside. try their lager. it is brewed in germany and only sold through harrods.

  12. so excited for you!! :) we've done london and rome, but not paris. we have travel tips written on our blog if you need any. there's one restaurant in trastevere that you need to check out! it's kind of hole in the wall and no tourists go there.. but it was the best food i had in rome.
