colorado. camping around.

last week kyle and i packed up our bags and headed to the mountains. colorado mountains to be more specific. we wanted to get away and spend some time together before the crazy fall semester began. it was so, so good. the fresh air, the time alone, the relaxation that can only come from being disconnected from everything. it's refreshing.

we left wednesday, and after a ten hour drive filled with singing and reading and snacking and pointing to the distance and screaming "mountains!" we finally arrived to our campsite. which turned out to be all booked up. we planned to stay the night in our car and see if any opened up in the morning, but as we were exploring a little bit one opened up! which is extra awesome because...mice, ya'll. (more on that later)

so we set up camp and spent the rest of the evening and the next day exploring the river and surrounding mountains and trails. man, was it good for my Midwest soul. :) it's so hard to get an accurate picture of mountains. they all seem small in pictures, but they were so big...you can kind of tell in the last picture. see the tiny cars below??

more posts to come on our adventures in the sand dunes and our first 14er. :)

  6. Ooh mountains and green stuff! My last camping sojourn was New Years 2012 eeeeep! That probably also marks my last adventure also. Double eeeeep! These photos just ooze so much peace and serenity they're calming my anxiety right now. Must make plans for the summer to go on another adventure. Granted the surrounding mountains nearby where I live in Australia are hardly as impressive nor as grand as the scale I know them to be over in the US, still adventure is adventure!
