london | part one : highlight and favorites

i know i'm skipping ahead a bit, but i just couldn't help myself. i started editing these pictures from london, and i just had to share them with you.

london, london, london. it was exactly how i imagined it'd be. beautiful, magical, dreary, perfect. i definitely could have used an extra day or two or ten to be there.

our first day  there, we spent the afternoon near our apartment. we walked around kensington park, eating our lunch, watching the people (aka gawking at their amazing accents and stylish attire), and soaking it all in. kensington park was beautiful! there were no lamps or loads of sidewalks. it was mostly dirt paths and overgrown grass, which made it feel more wild. so beautiful!

later that evening we took the underground to another spot to do a jack the ripper walking tour, but they had already left when we got there. so we just walked around some more, looking for a place to eat. (when deciding where to eat, we always tried to find a spot that had lots of locals inside. that usually meant it wasn't a tourist trap, and the food was going to be more authentic.)

side note: every place in london (except pubs) charge you extra -per item- if you eat your food there...so we always ate our food on the go.

anways, we finally found a pub that was packed with people and decided to eat there. i don't remember the name of it to recommend, but we loved it. the actual building was older so the layout was awesome and the atmosphere/decor was really fun. we ordered fish and chips (we are tourists afterall ;) ) and ended up staying there for a couple hours. it was one of my favorite times in london.

    1. it wasn't like that everywhere we went, just london! isn't that crazy! and public park restrooms cost as well!

you're going to ireland/scotland!? ah! take me with you! ;) that'll be so amazing. as to planning, are you going to get an overseas cell plan? my sister and i didn't, we just left our phones in airplane mode the entire time and used them via wifi. anyways, the app pocket earth was a LIFESAVER. it was seriously amazing. it's basically a gps that uses wifi (it always worked for us...even if we couldn't find wifi!).

  2. Ah your photos are beautiful, I love the iconic British architecture you captures, so beautiful! I can't wait to visit England one day. It's interesting that they charge extra to eat in, but I guess your paying for the service and they probably do that instead of tipping so it kinda makes sense! Although, if I went to London, I'd just eat in your average pub everyday because there's something so...British about that haha!

    1. thank you, corlyn! :):)

yes, there's no tipping there so it all evens out. :) plus as tourists, we had so much we wanted to see, we didn't really sit and eat that often so it didn't really affect us!

and YES! we LOVED going to the pubs. it was just so british! ha! i hope you get to go there someday and eat at a pub. <3

  3. Great place isn't it. I visit for work once a month and enjoy walking rather than catching a tube. So much to see.
